BASQUIAT’S PAY!

Swatch embarks on a journey through the art world with its Art Journey collection. The New Gent Special BASQUIATS PAY! is dedicated to the work "Untitled (Crown)" by the American artist, painter, and draughtsman Jean-Michel Basquiat. His works are among the most sought-after art objects of the 20th century, and he was the first African-American artist to break through in the predominantly white art world. In 1982, at the age of 21, Basquiat was the youngest participant in documenta 7 to date. After his death in 1988, he left behind more than 1000 paintings and objects, as well as 2000 drawings. The painting is a collage of acrylic, ink, and paper on canvas, created in 1982. Detail views are visible on the soft silicone strap. The artwork with the imposing crown and silver hands are printed on the dial. The case is made of black plastic, housing an accurate quartz movement with a battery, and it is equipped with an integrated payment function. The special edition comes in a matching cardboard box, with information about the painting printed on the back.

I was especially pleased that the watch was from Citizen It was not delivered in the usual black box, but with the yellow diving cylinder.
